about

Arc Divers:
Thomas Bendel - drums
Ross Bellenoit - guitar
Todd Erk - bass
Emily Zeitlyn - vocals

Since 2012, Arc Divers (formerly known as Divers) has been creating quite the buzz in their hometown of Philadelphia. Their reputation for a captivating and dynamic live performance has seemingly won them some good graces and allowed them to build a dedicated audience. The band is fronted by the magnetic singer/songwriter Emily Ana Zeitlyn (formerly of the Weeds), flanked by the powerhouse rhythm section of Thomas Bendel (drums), Ross Bellenoit (guitar) and Todd Erk (bass).

in this musical environment, Zeitlyn's songs are painted with a sort of 21st century psychedelic brush. While the canvas often recalls traditional blues forms, 50's style doo-wop, and Brechtian art song, the band colors these songs with vibrant colors and edgy rhythms. Lyrically, Zeitlyn's songs are a world of their own, combining harsh truths about relationships with our fellow human beings (When We Met), with time (Bridge You Burned), with money (The Price Is Too High), and even with imaginative flights of fancy in "Wild Things" an adventurous tribute to Maurice Sendak.

Produced by Jeff Hiatt, and cut mostly live in the studio (the odd maraca track appears), "Holding Bodies" by Arc Divers is an impressive debut statement, and a fantastic springboard for the band bound to woo some hearts and seduce some imaginations.
